We've been busy!

We've had a busy few weeks at the OAES LMC!

The newlyweds! Mr. & Mrs. Lawrence and their two dogs.

One of our interns Mr. Todd got married on October 26th! He and his wife Summer honeymooned at New Smyrna Beach in Florida and had a wonderful time.  One highlight of the trip was visiting Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios.  Mr. Todd is an avid Walking Dead fan and they had a whole section themed after this show.  Mr. Todd leads a Battle of the Books reading group and while he was on his honeymoon, they all sent him handmade cards congratulating him on his wedding. He was so excited to receive them!

Ms. Ashleigh saw Snow White in the parade!

The same weekend, Ms. Ashleigh was also in Florida and she went to Disney World! She was so excited to see the shows and meet lots of characters. One of her Battle of the Books reading groups is reading Whatever After: Fairest of All, which is a fractured fairy tale based on the story of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  Ms. Ashleigh actually got to meet Snow White (one of her favorite princesses) and she told her all about the book they are reading.  Snow White even wrote a note to the students encouraging them to keep reading and keep wishing!

This Saturday, Ms. Sugiuchi went to her first UGA football game (yes, she knows there is no good excuse:))! She was THRILLED to see two of our interns performing on the field at halftime for the Homecoming game.  Ms. Jane is a clarinet player in the Redcoat Band and Ms. Ashleigh is on the Flagline.  There was a special halftime show for the 40th anniversary of the Redcoat Alumni Band, so all current Redcoats and alumni from years ranging from 1950-2013 performed together.  There were almost 1,000 people performing on the field!  The Dawgs won the game against Appalachian State 45-6 and Ms. Sugiuchi and her son had a great time.

Ms. Sugiuchi also went to the Georgia Educational Technology Conference with Ms. Wheeler, Ms. Taylor, and Ms. Hanks.  They learned lots of new tools and tips.  Ms. Sugiuchi even attended a special session on digital and information literacy.  She can't wait to share what she has learned!
